Dr. Craig S. Bindi

Dr. Bindi has been part of the Laser Eye Center of Silicon Valley staff since 2000. In that time, he has performed more than 20,000 refractive procedures. He specializes in advanced laser vision techniques, helping the Laser Eye Center of Silicon Valley remain in the forefront of the field.

Over the past eight years, Dr. Bindi has developed a reputation as one of the leading laser eye surgeons in the Bay Area. He is known throughout the region for providing his patients with the highest possible level of service, and makes it a priority to place individual patient care over everything else.

Dr. Bindi grew up in San Jose and has remained in the Bay Area community for his entire life. He earned his ophthalmology degree at the University of California Davis School of Medicine, and then spent a year at the University of Arizona for a post-doctoral fellowship in refractive surgery and corneal physiology. Dr. Bindi has also performed numerous procedures treating cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachment, and eye trauma.

Dr. Bindi is a board certified ophthalmologist and has performed laser vision surgery on sports celebrities, including professional football players, baseball players, and Olympic athletes.

Dr. Samir B. Shah

Dr. Shah joined Dr. Kawesch’s staff in 2005 to provide additional expertise in the areas of cataract and refractive lens exchange surgery. He is a board certified corneal and refractive surgeon with specialties in refractive lens surgery, intraocular surgery, corneal transplantation, cataract surgery, and anterior segment reconstruction.

Dr. Shah also grew up in the Bay Area, graduating as valedictorian from Lynbrook High School in San Jose. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of California, Berkeley and earned his medical degree from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Shah did his ophthalmology residency at the University of California Irvine, where he received a research grant from the LASIK Institute. He spent time at the Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California as a clinical instructor and fellow in corneal and refractive surgery.

Before joining Laser Eye Center of Silicon Valley, Dr. Shah ran a private practice in Orange County, California and worked as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California Irvine.

Dr. Shah feels strongly about giving back to the community and helping those less fortunate receive the surgical care they need. He has spent countless hours volunteering to perform refractive procedures at surgical eye camps in India. He is also a staff surgeon at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center where he has the opportunity to treat underinsured county patients.
